I have written journals and fiction since early childhood. I honed my creative writing through courses such as the year-long Kidd Tutorial at the University of Oregon, and groups such as the Pacific Northwest Writers' Association. In addition, I'm a member of the online workshop TheNextBigWriter.com, and--in my proudest moment yet--I won the 2010 Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest with a very terrible single sentence. (*Intentionally* terrible, mind you. The contest honors humor; it doesn't pick on cluelessly bad writing.)
My blog at LiveJournal features most of my online writing, including film parodies, book
reviews, and discussion of characters in popular culture. Some highlights are below:
The Harry Potter books, condensed parody versions
The ones I've got so far...
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Lord of the Rings, parody material
'Rings' characters discuss Oscar snub -
remember when we were all angry because LOTR:ROTK didn't get any acting nominations? Well, I wrote an article in the
style of The Onion to get even. It was a big hit and got forwarded all over the globe within about two days, apparently.
The Fellowship of the Ring: condensed parody version of the first LOTR film.
The Ten-Minute Two Towers -
a parody script of the second LOTR film. This was actually the first of the parodies that I wrote, and was also much
forwarded all over the world, putting lots of pressure on me to write the other two.
The Return of the King: condensed parody version of the third and (tragically) final LOTR film. May it be a light for you in dark times.
